They can weight up to 400 pounds and can get to roughly 1.8m. It is one of the largest fish found in on The Great Barrier Reef!
Diet & Importance
Humphead Wrasses feed on molluscs, starfish and crustaceans. By doing this they are keeping down the numbers of the feral Crown Of Thorns Starfish that eat the Coral on the Great Barrier Reef.
Humphead Wrasses can live 30 years old.
Humphead Wrasses are endangered because of over fishing. They are a delicacy in South East Asia. They perfer the younger fishes and that is bad because when the older generation dies there isn't many of the next generation left.
WWF helped to stop the export of this important fish. Since 2010, over 860 Humphead Wrasse have been released back into the wild!
