Container Desposit Scheme Comes Into NSW
As of December 1 New South Wales has a container desposit scheme. It works just like a reverse vending machine. You put your can or bottle into it and receive 10c. Its simple but this makes a massive difference and has caused a massive decline in beverage container litter in states and territories that it has been implemented in.
The Government Of Mexico Takes Action In Efforts To Save The Vaquita
The Vaquita is one of the world's most endangered animals with only 30 left. Their major threat is bycatch in gillnets. In an eleventh hour effort to save them the government of Mexico announced a ban on gill nets in the Upper Gulf of California!
Plastic Bag Bans
This has been a big year for the battle against the plastic bag. This year Woollies and Coles announced that they would phase out plastic bags in the next 12 months. Many states have also announced that they will be phasing them out. This is fantastic.
Michael Kors Is Going Fur Free In 2018
Michael Kors has announced that they are going fur free in 2018. Soon they will join the long list of companies that have said no to fur. But why is fur so bad. Fur is nothing but cruel. Most of the animals grown for fur are factory farmed, kept in tiny cages and given no enrichment. Then they are killed for their fur. This is not ok.
