Yesterday I visited the eco-markets at the The Bleach Festivals Surfrider Foundation Eco Challenge in Tugun on the Gold Coast. I visited alot of great environmentally friendly stalls . The first one was think love live that made women's swim wear out of recycled plastic bottles, there are a lot of other products that they sell made out of other recycled items like footwear made out of recycled car tyres. The 2nd store was 2 bucks a board. They encourage people to donate $2 when any sports board is bought. The money raised goes towards environmental and community projects. If you have an idea of a project they could do please say so. The third one was sea shepherds. I talked to a volunteer. He talked about their newest campaign. The 4th one was Gecko. Gecko do alot of environmental campaigns and education around the Gold Coast region. Gecko is needed on the Gold Coast because the Gold Coast has 51 endangered animals. Some of these are the Koala, Grey Headed Flying Fox, Loggerhead Turtle and the Glossy Black Cockatoo. We also talked about palm oil and how bad it is. Gecko have environmental information evenings with guest speakers every month that anyone can go along to. You can also help Gecko by becoming a Gecko Friend.
It was great to see the event was powered by the SCU Sunflower mobile solar power generator.
