Taronga Zoo

Check out my interview above with Dr Jo Wiszniewski, the Research and Conservation Coordinator at Taronga Zoo.

People in the tallest sky scrapers in Sydeny don't have the best view, the animals have. It was opened on 7 October 1916 so it will soon be its 100 anniversary!  Taronga Zoo is just 12 minutes ferry ride from the city. It has many wonderful themed areas such as African Waterhole, Wild Australia, Bush Buddies, Reptile World, Lemur Forest, African Safari and more. The great thing about Taronga Zoo is that you can get so close to all of the Animals. In my opinion Taronga Zoo is one of the best Zoos on the Planet! Another great thing there is so much variety of animals. If you love Animals you must come here!

Conservation

Taronga Zoo does everything you can think of to do with conservation. Taronga has funded conservation projects worldwide. They do a great job protecting critical habitat like in Indonesia. They also protect individual species like the Bongo.
Wildlife Hospital
Taronga Zoo Widlife Hospital has rescued, rehabilitated and released thousands of animals. Animals come into their care for all sorts of reasons from rubbish, being a orphan, being hit by a car, bushfire, parasites, flying into a window or underweight. It doesn't matter because Taronga takes care of them no matter what the case.
Endangered and Declining Species Breeding Programs
Taronga Zoo has many fantasic Breeding Programs for Endangered Species that need our help. Such as Corroboree Frogs, Goodfellow's Tree Kangaroos, Sumatran Tigers, Asian Elephants, Little Penguin, Brush-Tailed Rock-Wallaby, Fijian Crested Iguanas, Francois Leaf-Monkeys, Chimpanzees, Long-Nosed Bandicoots, Red Pandas, Regent Honeyeaters, Snow Leopards, Tasmanian Devils, Koalas, Australian Sea Lions, Eastern Bongo, Plains Wanders and Western Lowland Gorillas.
Taronga Zoo Conservation Grants
